There are different options to enable your students to access the services of the European Student Card Initiative using MyAcademicID. These services are using MyAcademicID to identify the students using their European Student Identifier (ESI) uniquely and reliably and to control access based on the affiliation status at their Higher Education Institution. There are different scenario's for enabling MyAcademicID:

  • Many institutions participate in eduGAIN, an international interfederation service interconnecting research and education identity federations.

If you are a higher education institution and you want to make sure that your students can benefit from MyAcademicID, you can start by following the next steps:

  • Liaise with your IT department to make sure that your university can a) support the deployment of the European Student Identifier (ESI) in your local information systems and b) release the relevant student attributes through eduGAIN when students authenticate electronically:
    • Name
    • Surname
    • Home organisation
    • Email
    • ESI
