The European Student Card (ESC) was created by European is a key means to implement and realise the European Educational Area by 2025. The ESC provides for a consolidated and reliable mechanism for students’ authentication, exchange of students’ data and interoperability among EU Higher Education Institutions (HEI) to guarantee access to students’ services to streamline and facilitate mobility.

The idea is to create a card that can be accepted anywhere within Europe. This card gives access to an unlimited number of services that students use in their daily life, such as borrowing book from university library, accessing student cafeteria with discounted prices, accessing university premises, using public transportation etc.
